Seed and Nut Milk

Nut Milk rs

Getting ready

  • You will need a blender(preferably a super blender but you can make it do with a regular blender!)
  • A milk bag and a mason jar to preserve the milk (3 to 4 days in the refrigerator)
  • Buy nuts and seeds that are alive and have not been exposed to heat or pasteurization and have not become rancid.(You can buy from Sun Organics or any reliable source on the internet)
  • Some of my favorite milks include:  almond, hemp seed, hazelnut and pumpkin... All nuts and seeds can be turned into milk by themselves or in any combination.
  • Always soak your nuts and seeds (except the hemp seeds) in fresh water the night before so they will be ready for you the next morning. The enzyme inhibitors that help them survive for a long time are detrimental to your digestive system. Soaking nuts and seeds solves that problem. It is a must if you want to protect both your stomach and your gallbladder.

The following recipe make 4 cups of milk:

  1. Discard the soaking water
  2. Mix 2 cups of your choice of soaked nuts or seeds with 4 cups of water and a pinch of salt in your blender.
  3. Blend it at full speed for at least 10 seconds or till you obtain a white and creamy liquid.( the color and texture might vary according to the power of your blender)
